The Russian international magazine "ATHENAEUM" within the last year repeatedly was exposed to checks from authorities of the Russian Federation. It is a question of unreasonable charges in connection with the campaign against so called "extremism" under which it is possible to bring any political statements.

  Mr. Tulaev, the editor-in-chief of the magazine, its constant authors, like Mr. Avdejev and Mr. Ivanov, and the lawyer are getting struggle for their constitutional rights. It is necessary that we had possibility to continue researches and publishing activities.

  It is impossible to suppose persecution of scientific researchers, historians, writers and journalists only that they express the personal opinion even if it causes disagreement or hostility of their opponents.

  It is impossible to suppose, that Russia has turned into extralegal, a police state where citizens are pursued for the ideological views and political convictions where as during the Inquisition epoch, lists so-called “extremist" or “the forbidden” literature are made.

  Infringement of bases of the constitutional system of the Russian Federation rejects our society back, at the time of Bolshevist and Nazi dictatorship when on fires of ideological censorship objectionable books were destroyed, and their authors – were pursued.
